Barn Dancing

On Friday, my Aunt Sue invited us to her Family's Barn Dance. We thought it sounded like fun and wanted to try something new. It was so much fun. We had a yummy Dutch Oven dinner and than danced for about 1.5 hours. Here is Avery and me doing the "Boot Scootin Boogie". She also danced a slow dance with Daddy.
Other than those two, she danced the rest of the 1.5 hours by herself, even when we were sitting out. She was hilarious! She entertained everyone. She would spin, move her arms and a lot of other dance moves that I had never seen before. I new she loved to dance, but I didn't know she loved it that much. She laughed and smiled and would clap after each dance. We were surprised that she lasted as long as she did. We called her signature move the "peguin". With both legs straight, she would rock back and forth from each foot. During the slow songs, she would spin until she became dizzy.
Thank you so much for the invite, we had a blast!

Fun Summer Days!

Happy Birthday G-Man! What a fun day. When I asked Gavin how old he was, he replied "10". I looked in confusion at Sharelle, I guess he says that because his birthday is on the 10th. So funny! I am sad about these pictures. It was very bright and I over exposed them. This is the best I could do to save them.

The day started out with a fun Hike with the Webelos. I was surprised how much Avery loved it. She loved walking on the trail and laughed at the boys. She was so good. Then we met Sharelle, Gavin, Mason, Dave, Angi and Brighton at the Splash pad. It was a blast. All of the kids were a little frightened of the water at first. But they warmed up. Avery loved it!

Here is a scrapbook page I made of the fun day. I used Megan Turnidge's kit "Slice of Summer". I am so behind in my scrapbooking, that I decided to just scrapbook each day/event as it comes and backtrack as I am able to. That way I won't forget anything said or any cute/funny stories.

After playing in the water, the kids then went and played at the park. They loved it. We spent 3 hours there, during naptime and loved every minute of it. I love doing memorable and fun things with my family. We just missed Daddy. Then I came home, Avery took a nap and I made 8 homemade Chicken Pot Pies for a new Freezer meal group that I am apart of. I am so excited. I now have 8 different meals sitting in my freezer that I can't wait to try. Well have a good day.

Long Time no blog

Well it has been awhile since I have posted. We went on a little mini Vacation to Las Vegas. It was fun. We went to the Utah vs UNLV game, walked alot, shopped, went and saw Body Works and went to the Self Storage Expo. It was a fun and nice to get away for awhile. Avery had her first Airplane ride. She did pretty good, but unfortunetly never slept. I am just glad that the flight was only an hour long.

Oh, and have I mentioned yet that Avery is WALKING!!!! I can't believe it. It is so much fun, and she loves it, probably because we clap everytime she takes a step. She is getting braver and braver.

Also, I am so excited, I am on my first Creative team. It is for Megan Turnidge designs. I am also a little nervous, I hope that I can be creative enough. But look forward to working with all of her designs. She has some amazing stuff. (and most of it is girly too)

Avery's First Birthday

(Warning, picture overload)

As I have mentioned before, I have been looking forward to Avery's first birthday for quite awhile. I can't believe she is one. Here are some pictures from her special day.

First, the decor.

I made this picture banner and hung it in the kitchen. I digi scrapped 5 x7 mini pages of Avery's first year. I spray painted clothespins pink to match and hung them on ribbon. I also embellished each clothes pin.

I can't believe how much she has grown.

This is just one of the pages I did for the banner. I will probably make all of the pages into a mini scrapbook.

I got this tissue puff ball tutorial from Martha Stewart. What

a pain! I kept ripping the tissue paper. It was my idea to add

the ribbon. Then I made Bakerella's cupcake pops for a party

favor/thank you. The picture on the basket is the one of her

holding up 1 finger.

I have been wanting to make a birthday banner for awhile. I just digi scrapped each letter and glued it to white card stock, and cut the edges with scalloped scissors. Most of my decor was made using Dani Mogsteads Sweet Cupcake from SSD.

Since the theme was cupcakes, I had to serve cupcakes :) But I wanted to do something a little different then the usual. I made Banana with cream cheese frosting, peanut butter with chocolate frosting and Chocolate with White chocolate raspberry frosting. I get these ideas in my head of things that I want to do, forgetting that I am not a good baker/dessert maker. I spent all day Saturday baking. But it was worth it.

Here is the Birthday Girls cake. I used the wilton cake mold. The cake is completely dairy and egg free.

Here is part of the birthday ensemble. I made the party hat. I just measured Avery's head, decided on the size that I wanted and cut triangles of fabric. After sewing them together, I ironed on interfacing for some strength and sew on the trip. I topped the hat with Cork screw and straight ribbon and a glitter pink A for Avery. I did the cupcake applique shirt for her to wear with her party skirt. The other is an old onsie that I applied the number 1 on front and added some ruffles on the bum. (I love bum ruffles!) That was for her to wear while she eats her cake.

I really though she would dig into the cake more. She always makes a mess of her food. I am forever trying to clean squish food out of her hair. But she only took a couple of bites of cake, most of which we fed to her. But it was still fun, and I think she liked the cake. These cute pictures are courtesy of Aunt Kami. Thanks Kami!

Thanks to everyone that could make it. We appreciate all of your love and support (and the yummy food brought). We were so happy that you could all spend this special day with us. We missed those of you unable to attend. We love Avery so much! She is such a blessing and and a joy! It was a great day! Avery received many fun gifts that she will thoroughly enjoy. Here is the page with Avery on Santa's lap. I can't take any credit for it though, it was a free quick page that my friend Leslie was giving away. Cute huh?

I took some pictures (again) of Avery on saturday in her birthday outfit. They were harder this time because I didn't have any help with entertaining her. But I thought some of them turned out really cute. Here is her 1 year page that I did. I still have more Christmas to scrapbook, but I was in the mood to do this. 11 months old!

Avery is 11 months old. I can't believe that in 1 month she will be 1. I am already so excited for her first birthday and party. I just got her party skirt in the mail, but you will have to wait to see it. Aaron was great today. He cleaned while I worked and then helped me take some pictures of Avery. She needs lots of entertaining, I don't think she realizes that I am a very amateur photographer and it is easier for me if my subject holds still. lol! Here are some cute ones of her playing peek-a-boo that I just had to scrapbook.

She is so much fun! Here are some things about her at 11 months. Her favorite food is still bananas. She loves to share her food with Sam and squish it and rub it all in her hair. She now hates bath time, loves to walk, crawl, climb and stand. She says "moo" for cow. And loves her feet tickled. She has 6 teeth, loves to explore everything and LOVES to dance!

A new favorite find!

If you didn't already know, I love digital scrapbooking. I have been trying to practice that and photography. I am amazed how much there is to learn and the amazing things that people can do. I am thankful for the Internet, I have learned many things from just typing it in to google. I have been frustrated lately because I love all of the photo effects that you can buy. But they are always for a program that I don't have. I use PSE 6. After 9 months of scrapping I feel like I am just barely scraping the surface of the possibilities. I am not ready both skill wise and financially wise to purchase another program. I just discovered the virtual photo editor. It is a free program that you can find here http://www.optikvervelabs.com/. Don't ask me how I installed it, I just played around. But this is what I did in just a couple of seconds and there are lots of other options. Imagine the possibilities!

Before, it is a cute picture, and I never thought anything bad about it until I edited it.

After!

I love how the colors are much more vibrant. It makes the original look blah! And this was just a basic edit, there are so many options. I am so excited!!!!!

If any of you reading, have any photo/scrapbooking tips for me, I would love to hear them.
